Origins of Cuyapo

CUYAPO came from the Pangasinan word KIAPO or QUIAPO,
a water plant. Cuyapo was created as a Municipality on October 19, 1859.
The first Gobernadorcille was Don Juan Pangalilingas
The first Catholic church in Cuyapo was constructed by the Dominican Friars in 1859 - 1907. The Founder and First Aglipayan Priest in Cuyapo was Father Cirilo Sumangil for 40 years.

Historical event in Cuyapo:

Place where Apolinario Mabini, the Sublime Paralytic, the Brains of the Revolution, a National Hero was captured by the Americans.

Populations in the 1980’s - 60,000

Area - 16,750 kms
